CROSS-GENRE DUETS WITH LITTLE BIG TOWN AND MIRANDA LAMBERT ARE IN THE WORKS.

The Country Music Association Awards aren’t just for country music anymore, as most folks are probably aware.
But the cross-genre television ratings grab slated for the show’s 2014 edition on Wednesday, Nov. 5, is actually pretty exciting because it will stick hitmaking pop artists Ariana Grande (“Problem”) and Meghan Trainor (“All About That Bass”)—who have a combined 421 million YouTube views on those songs alone—in duet performances with Little Big Town and Miranda Lambert, respectively. There is no word on what precisely that will entail, but the prospect of witnessing a “Little Red Wagon”/“All About That Bass” mashup sounds pretty sweet.
Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will host the event for the seventh consecutive year, with previously announced performers including Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw, Kacey Musgraves, Blake Shelton, The Band Perry and Keith Urban.

No Iggy Azalea in the lineup just yet, but hey—who knows?
