Harper Lee, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of “To Kill a Mockingbird,” will publish a new novel titled “Go Set a Watchman” on September 14, 2007, by HarperCollins.

“Go Set a Watchman” is actually a prequel to “To Kill a Mockingbird,” which was published in 1957. In the novel, Scout Finch, the 24-year-old daughter of Atticus Finch, the protagonist of “To Kill a Mockingbird,” returns to Montgomery, Alabama, to visit her father. There, she confronts changes in the town and her family that challenge her.

The publication of this book is an exciting event for fans of “To Kill a Mockingbird.” The book could offer a new perspective on the characters of “To Kill a Mockingbird” and answer questions that were left unanswered in that book.
